If you are in need of assistance with obtaining or making changes to your health insurance you will need to go to healthcare.gov instead of kynect this year to purchase a Qualified Health Plan (QHP) during the 2017 open enrollment period (November 1, 2016 – January 31, 2017). You must enroll by December 15th for coverage to start on January 1st.
Medicaid individuals wishing to change their current Managed Care Organization (MCO) must do so during the open enrollment period. A MCO change made during this period will be effective January 1, 2017. After you change a MCO you will have 90 days to make another change. After 90 days, you will not be able to make another change until the next open enrollment period, unless you have an event that allows a change.
If you are currently enrolled in Medicaid you do not need to do anything until your renewal date. If you were receiving assistance through kynect you must re-enroll through the federal exchange. Anyone in need of assistance with the re-enrollment process can call their local Application Assister (see information below).
The move to the federal exchange (healthcare.gov) simply changes the website that Kentuckians will use to enroll and is projected to save more than $10 million per year in operating cost. The call center for the state exchange is available at 855-459-6328 to assist Kentuckians with questions about where to go for coverage.
The call center can help prescreen for program eligibility and help with questions and information.
If you live in one of Gateway’s 5 counties (Bath, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Rowan) please call your Application Assister, Kim Plank at 606-207-2404.
